Ingredients

Substitutions

• 500 grams wheat flour
• 250 milliliters warm milk
• 50 grams butter, melted
• 1 egg
• 60 grams sugar
• 20 grams fresh yeast (or 7 g dry yeast)
• A pinch of salt

• Butter: margarine.
• Milk: plant milk.
• Filling: add raisins, jam, or poppy seeds if desired.

Gluten (wheat flour), Dairy (milk, butter), Egg

1. In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk with 1 table spoon sugar. Let it sit 10 minutes until foamy.
2. Add flour, egg, butter, remaining sugar, and salt. Knead until smooth (8–10 minutes).
3. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled.
4. Divide dough into 8 pieces, shape into buns. Place on baking tray with parchment.
5. Cover and rise another 20 minutes.
6. Bake at 180°C for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
