Substitutions
• 100 grams pearl barley
• 1 carrot, diced
• 2 potatoes, diced
• 1 onion, chopped
• 200 grams chicken pieces or pork ribs
• 1.5 liters stock or water
• 1 bay leaf
• Salt and black pepper
• A handful of dill
• Barley: buckwheat for gluten-free option.
• Meat: skip for vegetarian version.

1. Rinse barley, place in a pot with stock and bay leaf. Simmer 15 minutes.
2. Add meat pieces, carrot, onion, and potatoes. Simmer 30–40 minutes until meat and barley are tender.
3. Remove bay leaf. Season with salt, black pepper, and chopped dill.
